Terms and Conditions
Last updated: June 22, 2026
1. About these terms
These terms apply to Hazel — Handmade Keepsakes & Jewellery ("Hazel", "I", "me"), a sole trader based in Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear, United Kingdom, and to the website hazeljewellery.co.uk ("the Site"). By using the Site or commissioning a piece from me, you agree to these terms. I may update them from time to time; the current version always lives on this page. If anything here is unclear, just ask me at hazel_foreman@icloud.com.
2. Every piece is bespoke and made to order
I hand-make memory keepsakes (such as bears, animals, cushions and blankets) from the clothing you provide, alongside handcrafted jewellery. There is no checkout on this Site — each commission begins with a gentle enquiry and a conversation. Nothing is binding until we have agreed what you'd like and I've confirmed I can make it.
3. The items you send me
I know the clothing and items you entrust to me are often irreplaceable, and I treat them with the greatest care. Please note:
- I only ever cut what is needed to make your keepsake, and I treat every scrap of your clothing as precious. [CONFIRM — what happens to leftover fabric.]
- Once an item has been cut and sewn, the work cannot be undone, so I will always confirm the details with you before I begin.
- Natural materials vary. Worn, delicate, or aged fabric can behave unpredictably, and I'll let you know if I have any concerns before starting.
- While I take great care, I cannot accept liability for the sentimental value of items beyond the cost of the commission. If you post items to me, please consider a tracked service.
4. Turnaround
My usual turnaround is around three weeks from the time your items reach me, though this can vary with the season and how busy I am. If you're working towards a funeral or another fixed date, please tell me when you get in touch and I'll do my very best to help. Any timescales I give are estimates, not guarantees.
5. Drop-off, collection and postage
You can hand your items to me in person in Newcastle upon Tyne (by arrangement, as I work from home) or post them to me from anywhere in the UK. Likewise, finished keepsakes can be collected or posted back to you. Postage costs and arrangements are agreed with you. For posted items, risk passes to the carrier in transit; I'm not responsible for loss or damage caused by a postal service, so a tracked option is wise for anything precious.
6. Quotes and payment
I'll agree the price and payment arrangements with you directly before starting your commission. Because each piece is made specially for you, any deposit or payment terms we agree are set out at the time of your order.
7. Bespoke items and your right to cancel
Keepsakes are personalised and made specifically to your order. Under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations, the usual 14-day "change of mind" cancellation right does not apply to bespoke or personalised goods once work has begun. This does not affect your legal rights if an item is faulty, not as described, or not made with reasonable care and skill under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If something isn't right, contact me and I'll put it right.
8. Website content
The photographs, reviews, and words on this Site are genuine and belong to me or are used with permission. Please don't copy or reuse them without asking. The Site is provided "as is"; I keep it accurate where I can but can't guarantee it is always complete or error-free.
9. Reviews
The reviews shown on the Site are real comments from customers, used with their permission. They reflect those customers' own experiences and aren't a guarantee of any particular outcome for your own commission.
10. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits my liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything that cannot be excluded under UK law. Subject to that, and to your statutory rights as a consumer, my liability for any commission is limited to the price paid for that commission.
11. Privacy
How I handle your personal information is explained in my Privacy Policy.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales. This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
