Memory Animals — keepsakes beyond the bear

A bear isn’t the only way to remember someone. Some people had a favourite animal, a nickname, or a creature that just feels like them. So as well as bears, I make memory animals of all kinds — each one sewn by hand from the clothes of someone you love.

I’ve made bunnies and elephants, dogs and cats, and a few more unusual creatures besides — including an axolotl and a tortoise that I still smile about. Whatever you have in mind, tell me about it and we’ll work out together how to bring it to life from the fabric you have.

What animals can you make?

Honestly, most things. Bears remain the most loved, but I make all sorts from scratch. If there’s a particular animal that meant something to the person you’re remembering, describe it to me — or send a picture — and I’ll tell you what’s possible.

What clothing works best?

Shirts, jumpers, cardigans, dressing gowns, dresses, even little baby clothes all work beautifully. Patterns and textures often make an animal feel even more personal. If you’re unsure about a particular item, just ask me before you send it.

How big are they, and how many garments do I need?

[CONFIRM] Sizes vary with the animal, and usually one or two garments is plenty. Tell me what you’d like and what you have, and I’ll let you know exactly what works.

Sending or dropping off your items

You can hand your items to me in person here in Newcastle, or post them from anywhere in the UK. Many people feel easier passing precious things over face to face — which is exactly why I offer both.
